When Something Finds You, You Listen

So, I wanted to take some time first to introduce this deck and speak a little about why I feel so connected with it. When we are lucky enough to experience synchronicities that feel important, we can ignore them or we can see what they have to offer.

When I first began reading tarot in 2013, I was using a hand me down deck from a friend just to see what they had to say. Often, I was reading for friends in very closed situaitons - and the responses from people often left me asking what I had done to freak them out. I was just reading the cards we pulled, nothing more. This feeling of unease led me to set my cards aside for a time, waiting for the right time to be read.

After being asked to read cards again, through some unfortunate circumstances, I was reminded of the value of reading. I was also shown the value of my connection with people over card reading, and how it could offer clarity in many situations. Looking into new options for alternative card decks, I stumbled upon several listings for Grand Jeu cards - all unavailable. I was feeling disappointed looking for them and finding nothing. I felt strangely drawn to this paticular deck even though I could not find much information about modern practice.

I live in the middle of nowhere. A tiny town in the mountains in Colorado, at the end of one long road, there’s Crested Butte. A mining town, and current ski spot, has its perks - but it has also had struggles. One of the struggles is closing businesses. This spring, the Tobacconist, the long time run head and tobacco shop, was closing due to the owners being unable to find housing. They were selling off everything - and I stepped in for the first time the day before they closed. I took a loop around the shop to see what was left - and this deck sat with other standard Tarot decks in a display against the window.

I was flabbergasted. This deck was unavailable everywhere, but was sitting here in front of me, in perfect condition. I took it home immediately and have been unable to stop learning about this truly uniquie tool. I feel so lucky to have a copy, and I feel thrilled to be able to share more about this deck as we go forward.

thank you for reading,

and I hope to show you as much as I can!
